Evening time

Night.

This is the time that I feel the most comfortable. I always have, as long as I can remember.  When the stars are coming out but the sky is still lit by remnants of the sun. And it fades way too quickly, but it's fun to watch. I love night time.

Tonight, after the boys went to bed, I sat out on my front porch with my dog and just looked up and out. For a pretty long time. I thought about a lot of things- how my little town is such a cute village, how if you blink too many times driving down my street, you'd miss it.  We have a couple of churches, one post office, a grocery store and two antique shops. And a train station that no one but the conductors can go into. We have Jack's Game Room that closed down years ago, as well as the convenience store next to it.  But someone comes out every year to decorate and light them up for Christmas. I like that.  During the day I tend to liken this place to Whistle Stop. Without the amazing fried green tomatoes. I guess that's where I come in.

We only have two street lights, but I'd actually prefer it if there were only one. Or none.  I like the dark and the quiet. One of the biggest perks of living out here is seeing the stars at night. Hearing the bugs, and watching the stars. This was what it was like in my hometown growing up. There were more houses around of course, but I loved watching the stars. Especially with my Dad. We'd sit out at night on top of the picnic table he build by hand for our family and I'd listen as he pointed out the constellations to me. Oh, I tried to memorize the stars and planets he showed me. I tried to remember, but I only caught on to a few- Orion, Big and Little Dippers, red Mars and huge Venus, and Jupiter.

But the Moon.   She's my favorite....

Because of Winn-Dixie

....such a sweet, sweet movie. I saw it for the first time the other day, and when Otis (Dave Matthews) sang to Opal, I cried.  So beautiful.

Beautiful Night

So last night we had a storm blow through and though it wasn't bad directly here, the clouds were so beauiful   thatI had to take, of course, a zillion pictures of them. Here's a few...
